Volunteer

By sharing your time, energy and talent as a Wamego Health Center volunteer, you have the opportunity to make a difference in the health and lives of your friends and neighbors.  Volunteering at our hospital is an excellent way to stay active while enjoying the company of our patients, their family members, and the dedicated associates at Wamego Health Center.  We have a variety of volunteer opportunities available for teens and adults.

Our volunteer opportunities include:

Patient Escort:

Description: Supports the clinic staff with escorting patients to other departments, light cleaning and organizing of the waiting room, assisting those waiting to be seen, and to be a friendly face people see as they enter the clinic.
Shifts available: Monday through Friday, times vary

Patient Companion:

Description: Supports the medical nursing staff with extra patient supervision by doing activities with the patient, taking them for a stroll in a wheelchair, or chatting with them. If chosen for a night shift, the volunteer will be supervising the patient while they are sleeping- so bringing a book or something to work on is acceptable.

Shift available: This position is on an ‘as needed’ basis. If you are interested, we can add you to a list to be called when it is available.

Patient Activity Coordinator:

Description: Allows inpatients an opportunity for some fun! This position allows the volunteer to interact with our medical inpatients by doing activities with them, such as; playing cards, doing a puzzle, chatting, eating together, or going for a stroll in a wheelchair.

Shifts available: Days and times vary

* More positions will be added soon!

At Wamego Health Center, we provide a volunteer orientation, and provide a description of each volunteer opportunity as well as its availability and requirements.
